Warehouse Management System
Magnus Code proposes the implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) for Sonoco Products Malaysia. This proposal outlines the features, benefits, and implementation plan of the WMS solution.
Problem Statement
Sonoco Products Malaysia operates a complex and dynamic warehouse environment, handling a large volume of pallets daily. However, the existing manual processes pose challenges, including difficulties in tracking pallets, pallets being sent to the wrong location, and incorrect pallet tagging. These issues lead to operational inefficiencies, increased costs, and customer dissatisfaction.
Challenges
- Difficulty in tracking pallets
- Pallets being sent to wrong location
- Wrong tagging of pallet
User Journey
Currently there is no way to track the movement of pallet in real time. This can cause issues such as missing and unaccounted pallets that can significantly affect production.

Proposed Solution
We proposes the implementation of a comprehensive Warehouse Management System tailored to Sonoco Products Malaysia's specific needs. The WMS will provide a centralized platform to manage and monitor warehouse activities. Key features of the WMS solution include:
- Real-time pallet tracking
- Tagging verification
- Location management
- Integration with existing systems

D --> E[Real time visibility of pallet that can be monitored remotely];
E --> F[Arrilval of pallet at final designated location];
By implementing WMS, all pallets will be tracked in real time and help prevent missing pallets. Any error in handling of pallets can be easily identified and resolved.
Benefits
- Enhanced Efficiency
- Increased Productivity
- Real-time Visibility
Hardwares
The system will be compatible with current handheld devices that had been purchased by Sonoco.
Implementation plan
We propose the following plan for the implementation of the system:
- Phase 1: Requirement gathering
- Phase 2: Customization and Development
- Phase 3: Testing and Quality Assurance
- Phase 4: Training and User Adoption
- Phase 5: Go-Live and Support
Agile development
During the development phase, Magnus Code will be in constant communication with Sonoco to ensure that the requirements are met. Agile development of weekly sprints will be used to ensure that the solution is meeting the requirements.
Info
Where possible, Magnus Code will carry out the project in parallel to minimize the overall project duration.
Project cost
The cost of implementing the system is dependent on several factors, including the scale of implementation, customizations required, and ongoing support and maintenance needs.
A detailed breakdown of the cost will be provided after project requrement gathering. Nevertheless, based on past experience of similar projects, the cost is estimated to be somewhere between RM200,000- RM300,000 (excluding monthly licensing and support fee)
Next step
We recommend scheduling a meeting to discuss the proposal further, address any questions, and outline the specific timeline and costs associated with the implementation of the Warehouse Management System. We are confident that this solution will provide Sonoco Products Malaysia with a competitive advantage in their warehouse operations.
